I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Modern 2-bedroom Apt near SSE Hydro and SEC, I thought it sounded pretty generic – you know, one of those apartment names that just describes where it is rather than having any personality. But after staying here for a long weekend, I actually get why they went with the straightforward approach. Location really is everything with this place.
You’re literally a stone’s throw from both the SSE Hydro and the SEC, which means if you’re coming to Glasgow for an event, you can practically roll out of bed and be there in five minutes. I mean, we could hear the crowds from Coldplay when we stayed – not loud enough to be annoying, just that distant hum that reminds you you’re right in the thick of things. The apartment sits on Elliot Square in the North West area, and honestly, it’s one of those spots where you feel like you’ve discovered something locals know about. There’s this little coffee place around the corner that doesn’t even have a proper sign, but they do the best flat whites I had during our entire Glasgow trip.
The apartment itself is actually quite thoughtfully set up – two proper bedrooms, not one of those places where they’ve carved up a living room and called it a second bedroom. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook (though with the food scene around here, I’m not sure why you would). What really impressed me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re so close to major venues. The windows are solid, and the building seems well-insulated. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s street parking that’s not impossible to find, unlike some parts of the city center where you’re circling for ages. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend confirming the exact process beforehand since it’s not a traditional hotel setup.
The 4-star rating feels right to me – it’s comfortable and well-maintained without being fancy for the sake of being fancy. That 8.1 rating makes sense too; it’s the kind of place that does what it promises without any major surprises, good or bad. You’re paying for the location and convenience more than luxury, but the comfort level is definitely there. If you’re the type who wants to be able to walk to concerts, exhibitions, or just explore the Finnieston area without dealing with taxis or public transport late at night, this spot really delivers. Plus, you’ve got the River Clyde right there for morning walks – something I didn’t expect to appreciate as much as I did.

Very large lounge, kitchen / diner. 2 x large bedrooms, 1 ensuite. Very comfy beds. Plenty of kitchen apparatus.
What could be improved: The pool table needs renewed. Wobbly legs, uneven surface. Balls roll to the side cushions. It was a big selling point for us booking the apartment. Oven didn't work 1st night but sorted 1st thing next morning. No grill. Blinds in lounge need replaced. Coffee table leg falls off if moved.
The balcony looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Glass panels and glass table very dirty.

Apartment was lovely, clean as described. Door staff very friendly. Would stay again.
