Motel One Glasgow Overview
You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first walked into Motel One Glasgow – I mean, the word “motel” had me expecting something pretty basic. But this place completely flipped my expectations on their head. The lobby hits you with this sleek, almost boutique hotel vibe that feels way more upscale than you’d imagine for a 3-star spot. The design is this clever mix of modern minimalism with little pops of color that somehow work perfectly together, and there’s always this subtle background music that makes the whole space feel alive without being distracting.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Glasgow at all – you’re close enough to the city center that you can easily walk to most of the good stuff, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the weekend chaos spilling out of the pubs at 2 AM. I’ve stayed in places right in the thick of things before, and honestly, the noise can be brutal if you’re trying to get decent sleep. Here, you get that sweet spot where you feel connected to the city but can actually rest. The rooms themselves are surprisingly well thought out – they’re not huge, but everything has its place, and the bed is genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so that’s saying something). The bathroom design is smart too, with this rainfall shower that actually has good pressure, which feels like a small miracle in some UK hotels I’ve experienced.
What really impressed me though is how the staff just… gets it. They’re not overly formal or robotic, but they know their stuff and seem to actually care about helping you figure out Glasgow. The guy at reception gave me these spot-on recommendations for places to eat that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps – little gems that locals actually go to. And the breakfast situation is solid without being fancy; they’ve got quality coffee (crucial for me) and fresh options that fuel you properly for a day of exploring. With an 8.8 rating, it’s clear other people are having similar experiences, and I totally get why. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re getting more value than you paid for, which is rare these days. If you’re looking for somewhere in Glasgow that won’t break the bank but still makes you feel like you made a smart choice, this is definitely worth considering.

Excellent stay – comfortable clean rooms. And the foyer / rest area was very pleasant – the chance to catch up with friends or complete some work without having to work in the room.

The location was excellent for the event we were attending. We were able to leave our luggage securely until check in which was a great help. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated and impressive on arrival. The check in staff were very efficient, even though check in was very busy at the time (they need to pass their customer service ethics to the staff behind the hotel bar, see below comments).
