Newly Renovated City Apartment Overview
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the name Newly Renovated City Apartment, I wasn’t expecting much – it sounded a bit generic, you know? But this place completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. Tucked away in the heart of Glasgow‘s city center, it’s actually this incredibly thoughtful boutique spot that feels more like staying at a design-savvy friend’s place than a typical hotel. The whole building has this gorgeous Victorian facade that they’ve kept intact, but step inside and you’re hit with these clean, modern lines and this amazing natural light that floods through these massive windows. I mean, whoever did the renovation really knew what they were doing – they managed to keep all that old Glasgow character while making everything feel fresh and current.
What really struck me about this place is how they’ve thought about the details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The soundproofing is excellent (and trust me, that’s not always a given in central Glasgow), so even though you’re right in the thick of things near Buchanan Street, you can actually get a decent night’s sleep. The kitchenettes are properly equipped too – not just those sad little coffee makers you usually get, but actual space to prep food if you want to grab some bits from the weekend farmers market at Queen Street station. Speaking of location, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Style Mile shopping district, and Merchant City is right on your doorstep with all those brilliant restaurants and pubs. I particularly loved being able to walk to The Lighthouse or pop over to the Gallery of Modern Art without dealing with any transport.
The staff here genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing, which honestly makes such a difference. They’re not just going through the motions – they’ll actually give you proper recommendations based on what you’re into, whether that’s the music scene or the whisky bars or just finding a quiet spot along the Clyde for a morning walk. The whole place has this relaxed, unpretentious vibe that feels very Glasgow to me. Sure, it doesn’t have an official star rating, but that 8.5 guest rating tells you everything you need to know. Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t fit into neat categories – they’re just doing their own thing really well. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels authentic to the city rather than like every other chain hotel, this is definitely worth considering.

It was close to the town centre. Convenient for shops and places to eat.
There was a welcome pack, biscuits coffee, breakfast and fresh milk in the fridge, a lovely touch by the host and a welcome sign with my name, which was very thoughtful. The host also allowed us an extra hour for checkout, which was great.
What could be improved: I think a small information pack, with, how to use the oven hob and the TV and other electric would have been useful.Wonderful – Samantha from United Kingdom – July 15, 2024 (9/10)
