Oswald Apartment – Glasgow City Centre Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Oswald Apartment – Glasgow City Centre? I walked up expecting another sterile serviced apartment, but this place actually has character. The building sits right on Oswald Street – and I mean right in the thick of things – but somehow they’ve managed to keep it surprisingly quiet inside. Must be good windows, because Glasgow city centre doesn’t exactly whisper.

The location is honestly brilliant if you know the city at all. You’re literally a two-minute stumble from Buchanan Street for shopping, and Central Station is so close you can practically roll your luggage there without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated though was being able to walk to the Merchant City in about five minutes – that’s where the actual good restaurants are, not the tourist traps on Sauchiehall Street. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which is either perfect or completely wrong depending on what you’re after. I’m talking proper kitchen with full-size appliances (not those sad mini-fridges), decent-sized living spaces, and – this matters more than you’d think – proper blackout curtains that actually block out those ridiculously long Scottish summer evenings.

The 4-star rating makes sense when you see the finishes and fixtures, though honestly the 9.2 guest rating tells you more about the experience. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no hovering desk clerk trying to upsell you on breakfast or city tours you don’t want. Parking‘s the usual Glasgow nightmare, but there’s a decent-sized Tesco about three blocks away if you need supplies, and the whole area stays pretty lively until late without getting sketchy. I stayed during festival season when the city was absolutely mental with tourists, and this felt like a proper retreat from all that chaos. The only thing I’d warn about – and this is minor – is that Sunday mornings can get a bit echo-y with all the hard surfaces, so if you’re a light sleeper maybe pack earplugs. But really, for the money and the location, you’re getting way more space and comfort than any traditional hotel would give you in central Glasgow.

  • Excellent host, clean and comfy apartment in an excellent location – Debimc from United Kingdom – August 25, 2025 (9/10)

Lovely apartment – beds were extremely comfy, and had added extras (tea/coffee/refrigerator accessories) to make our stay that bit more comfortable. Fantastic location and door code instructions were easy. Our host was very quick at getting back to us.

What could be improved: Lift has a bit of a smell, but I'm sure an air freshener can fix that, and it definitely didn't detract from the apartment itself.

  • Exceptional – Maggie from United Kingdom – July 18, 2025 (10/10)
