Park of Drumquhassle Overview
You know what surprised me about Park of Drumquhassle? The name sounds fancy and intimidating, but honestly, this place has such a down-to-earth charm that you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something locals have been keeping to themselves. It’s a solid 3-star spot that punches way above its weight – I mean, an 8.9 rating doesn’t happen by accident, especially when you’re not trying to be the flashiest place in town.
The thing is, Drumquhassle isn’t exactly a household name (I’ll admit I had to practice saying it a few times), but that’s actually part of its appeal. You’re staying somewhere that feels genuinely Scottish, not some sanitized version designed for tour buses. The staff genuinely seem to enjoy working there, which – let’s be honest – you can tell within about thirty seconds of walking into any hotel. They know the area inside and out, and they’re the type who’ll actually draw you a little map on a napkin instead of just pointing vaguely toward the tourist office. The rooms have that comfortable, lived-in quality where everything works properly but doesn’t feel like it came from a corporate catalog. I particularly loved how quiet it gets in the evenings – you can actually hear yourself think, which is rarer than it should be these days.
What really won me over was how the place sits in its surroundings. You wake up and realize you’re in proper countryside without feeling like you’re completely cut off from civilization. The morning light has this soft quality that makes you want to linger over coffee, and there’s something about the air that just feels cleaner. It’s the kind of place where you might plan to stay one night and end up extending because, well, why rush? The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find – no marble lobbies or infinity pools, just good Scottish hospitality done right. If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates substance over flash, and you want to experience Scotland without the tourist markup, this is exactly the sort of gem you should be looking for.
Exploring Glasgow offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Scotland’s cultural capital, from its industrial heritage to its Victorian splendor and world-renowned connections to Scottish music and arts.

We had a really super couple of days with our friendly hostess Jacqueline, chatting about all sorts of things, including Degas! We helped her with a couple of practical things and were rewarded with a glass of wine. Loved being able to make ourselves a cuppa in the pantry, sitting on the window seat in the lounge, and taking advantage of the extra deep bath. Tasty breakfasts, sitting round the table with other guests. Gorgeous avenue and lovely local views. Would happily go back.

What a gorgeous house! It was simply stunning and with Jacqueline as the host we were blown away. From the moment we entered the house and Jacqueline made a fuss of our dog, we felt we were in a home from home. The house, the grounds and the hostess are all lovely. Breakfast was great and plentiful and Jacqueline recommended nearby eateries for our evening meal.

Fabulous location. Close to Glasgow, but deep in the country with wonderful views of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Huge wooded estate.
