The location is actually pretty brilliant if you’re planning to explore Glasgow properly. Being so close to Cessnock subway station means you’re literally minutes away from jumping on the underground and getting anywhere in the city center – I mean, we’re talking about a two-minute walk max. The neighborhood itself has this authentic Glasgow vibe that you just don’t get in the touristy areas. There’s a proper local pub around the corner where the bartender actually remembers your order by the third night, and honestly, that’s worth something. The flat sits on the ground floor, which I initially thought might be noisy, but the street’s surprisingly quiet – well, quiet for Glasgow anyway. You’ll hear the occasional car, but nothing that’ll keep you up unless you’re an incredibly light sleeper.

What really works about this place is how lived-in it feels without being worn down. The one bedroom is actually spacious enough that you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around, and the bed – thank god – is properly comfortable. I’ve stayed in too many places where they’ve clearly bought the cheapest mattress possible, but this one actually let me sleep through the night. The kitchen‘s small but functional, and if you’re like me and can’t function without proper coffee in the morning, you’ll appreciate that they’ve got decent equipment. The bathroom’s nothing fancy, but it’s clean and the shower pressure is solid (honestly, half the battle won right there). There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than checking into a hotel – no fancy lobby or concierge hovering around, just a straightforward, comfortable space where you can actually relax. With that 8.0 rating, I’d say other travelers have figured out what I did: sometimes the best value isn’t about marble countertops or thread counts, it’s about having a genuinely comfortable base while you’re out discovering what makes Glasgow special.
