Revolver Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Revolver? The name had me expecting some rock ‘n’ roll themed place with guitar memorabilia everywhere, but it’s actually this sleek, understated spot right in the heart of Glasgow‘s Merchant City area. I mean, it’s on Virginia Street – literally steps from all the Victorian architecture and those narrow lanes that make this part of town so atmospheric. The building itself has this industrial-chic thing going on, with exposed brick and modern touches that somehow don’t clash with the historic neighborhood vibe.
What really works here is how they’ve nailed that balance between being central without being touristy-loud. You’re a two-minute walk from George Square and all the main shopping on Buchanan Street, but Virginia Street itself stays pretty quiet at night – which honestly surprised me, given how close you are to the bars around Merchant Square. The rooms have this minimalist thing happening that could feel stark, but the lighting’s warm enough and there are these little touches (decent coffee setup, actually comfortable chairs) that show someone was thinking about the details. The bathrooms are properly modern too – good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in converted buildings like this.
Here’s the thing though – and this is probably why it sits at that solid 7.5 rating – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it gets the fundamentals right. Check-in was smooth, staff actually seemed to know the area when I asked about restaurants (they steered me toward some great spots on Ingram Street I wouldn’t have found otherwise), and the whole place just feels… competent, I guess? Like, you’re not getting luxury spa treatments or a rooftop bar, but you’re getting a really good night’s sleep in a spot where you can walk to everything that matters. The price point makes sense for what you get – it’s that sweet spot where you’re paying for location and quality without the premium you’d shell out at the big chain hotels. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Glasgow rather than hide in your hotel, this works really well as a base.
Best hotels in Glasgow range from luxurious properties in the historic city center to boutique hotels with stunning views of the River Clyde and magnificent Victorian architecture.

Reviews of Revolver
It's fine for a night or 2 but it needs a bit of maintenance – Rebecca from United Kingdom – September 8, 2025 (6/10)
Bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly
What could be improved: the door to room 209 didn't shut properly and the tiles in the bathroom floor were loose and you also cant reach the fan in there above the door so it got very warm in there on a night, the nightclub is very loud and I didnt notice that earplugs were provided till my final nightVery Good – Francisco from Spain – September 6, 2025 (8/10)
Loved the location, the personal, the ambience… The reception is a good place to chill and have some drinks! All went smooth in my stay
What could be improved: There's nothing I didn't like, but I did notice the charging ports in my bed were not working correctly. I went to tell that to the guy at the reception and by nighttime it was perfectly working! That's a plus 🙂A quick stay, very comfortable and a great location to walk to the train station the next morning. – Leisa from Australia – September 3, 2025 (8/10)
Perfect location – although there is a nightclub located nearby. However, on the night I stayed there was no issue. Staff were friendly enough. My room was suitable and the ensuite shower was excellent.
Lovely hostel, really clean, comfortable and fantastic location. – Karen from United Kingdom – September 2, 2025 (8/10)
Loved my room, shared with 6 others, room was spacious, warm, clean and very comfortable.
What could be improved: Had a bit of trouble checking in, sorted in the end but I was worried they wanted me to pay again due to a mix up or maybe the person was new.Wonderful – Andrew from United Kingdom – August 22, 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: I was on a bottom bunk.
A small shelf would have been useful.
But not essential!I loved my stay staff were very welcoming – Aaron from United Kingdom – August 21, 2025 (8/10)
Everything was great I enjoyed my stay very much
What could be improved: I have no complaints to make at allVery Good – Jakob from Germany – August 21, 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: I havent seen any kitchen
Very comfortable – Jeremy from United States – August 19, 2025 (9/10)
Clean, good location with a good hangout area
What could be improved: Bunk beds are a little shakyGood location and rooms, not good for meeting people – Svenja from Germany – August 19, 2025 (6/10)
Good location, nice bathrooms and well equipped rooms.
What could be improved: Unfortunately no kitchen and the lounge felt more like a hotel lounge so no one hang out there and why, no food. Bad place to meet people.Wonderful – Carlos from Costa Rica – August 19, 2025 (9/10)
Every room has a small kitchen with a sink, 2 microwaves and some other things. The has air conditioner which is very convenient now in summer. Beds were comfortable and the room was big enough that it wasn't troublesome to move around.
What could be improved: I can't come up with anything I didn't like. Then again I only slept there one night and checked out at 4 am. Mayble if I had stayed longer I would have be able to come up with something.
