The Dixon – Commonwealth Games 2026 Overview
You know what caught me off guard about The Dixon – Commonwealth Games 2026? It’s one of those places that just feels right from the moment you walk in – and honestly, I wasn’t expecting that from a 3-star hotel. Located on Dixon Avenue in the Southside, it sits in this really interesting spot where Glasgow‘s creative energy meets proper residential calm. I mean, you’re close enough to the buzz but far enough away that you can actually sleep without sirens or late-night revelers stumbling past your window.
The whole Commonwealth Games tie-in isn’t just marketing fluff either – there’s genuine pride in the place, like they’re part of something bigger happening in the city. The staff actually know their stuff about what’s going on locally, which is refreshing when you’re trying to figure out whether it’s worth trekking to the West End or if there’s something decent happening right in the neighborhood. Speaking of the neighborhood, you’re really well positioned here. The Southside has this authentic Glasgow feel that tourists often miss – proper cafés, local pubs that aren’t trying too hard, and Queen’s Park is close enough for a morning walk if you’re into that sort of thing.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to punch above their weight in terms of quality. The rooms are thoughtfully done – not fancy, but everything works properly and feels clean without that sterile hotel smell. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like so many places. That 9.2 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not about having the fanciest lobby or gold-plated taps, it’s about getting the fundamentals right and then adding little touches that show someone cares. The check-in was smooth, parking isn’t a nightmare like it can be in central Glasgow, and honestly, the whole place just runs well. You get the sense that when Glasgow hosts the Commonwealth Games, this’ll be one of those spots that leaves visitors with a genuinely good impression of the city – not because it’s trying to be something it’s not, but because it knows exactly what it is and does it properly.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Glasgow through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best districts for experiencing the city’s musical atmosphere and artistic heritage.

Wonderful – Tiziano from United Kingdom – August 9, 2025 (9/10)
Available on extremely short notice, the studio was a life saver. Considering the short notice, the apartment was reasonably priced. Everything was brand new and in an excellent state Hopefully it will stay like that for a while!⁸
Exceptional – Robet from United Kingdom – August 6, 2025 (10/10)
Excellent place with a build in appliances and en-suite. Was very clean, absolutely spotless. Great wifi. Spacious and no complaints or regrets at all.
What could be improved: There is no dedicated parking, but you can find plenty of free parking around the property.Very good apartment – Izabela from Poland – June 27, 2025 (10/10)
Comfortable, clean, 20min walk to the Hampden Park stadium. Neighbourhood seemed to be very quiet and safe, the apartment itself was very quiet too
What could be improved: no cutlery or iron, no adapter for sockets other than British. accommodation in the semi-basement – it was not bad but the descent down was very uncomfortable and steep, no nice view outside the windowNice apartment but a few things not quite right – Alison from United Kingdom – July 10, 2025 (6/10)
Good location for Hampden Park. Station for train to Glasgow Central couple of minutes walk. Apartment clean
What could be improved: No contact number for owner
Double bolted door as basement fire exit didn't quite sit right with us (is that even legal?) Nothing in apartment detailing any evacuation procedures etc
Some work in progress going on but having spikey carpet grippers on stairs (no carpet) is an accident waiting to happen
Expensive per night
There were beers and bottles of water in the fridge – unclear whether this was left behind by someone else or complimentary. Same in bathroom – part used toiletries – again, left behind or complimentary?Acogedor – Rosa from Spain – August 20, 2025 (10/10)
