But walking up to 8 Naburn Gate in the South Side of Glasgow, I actually found myself pleasantly surprised by how welcoming this little three-bedroom house felt.

It’s tucked into this quiet residential street where you can actually hear yourself think, but you’re still close enough to the city centre that you won’t spend half your day on transport. The free parking is genuinely free, which honestly feels like a minor miracle in Glasgow these days. I watched a couple struggle with their bags from some fancy hotel down the road, paying £15 a night for parking, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit smug about just pulling right up to the door here.

What really gets me about this place is the attention to practical details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The beds are properly comfortable – not those rock-hard hotel mattresses that leave you feeling like you’ve been wrestling with concrete. The kitchen‘s got everything you actually need (decent knives, proper coffee maker, enough plates that you don’t have to wash up after every snack), and there’s this lovely lived-in feeling without being shabby. You know what I mean? It’s like staying at a friend’s place, if your friend happened to have really good taste and kept their house immaculately clean. The whole setup just works – you can spread out properly, cook a proper breakfast, and not feel like you’re camping in someone else’s space. With that 9.3 rating, clearly other people have figured out what I did: sometimes the best places are the ones that focus on getting the basics absolutely right rather than trying to dazzle you with unnecessary frills.

  We had an amazing stay at this lovely house! It was incredibly cute, spotless, and really felt like a home away from home. The host was fantastic—very friendly and quick to reply to all our messages. Parking was super easy, and there’s a lovely park nearby that was perfect for a morning walk. Great location too, with a Co-op just a 5-minute walk away and an Aldi only a few minutes’ drive. Overall, a really wonderful experience—would definitely stay again! 🌿✨

  Lots of room, safe, clean and close to what we wanted to see.
  
  What could be improved: The stairs are steep to lug your luggage up. Since we were only staying one night, we left our heavy suitcases downstairs and just brought up the toiletries and night clothes that we needed. There is also a lack of mirrors. We are 2 women that needed mirrors before going out on the town. The pink bedroom had a closet with sliding doors that were mirrors. So we fought over who got that bedroom. Haha!
