The Sauchie and The Steamie City Centre Luxury Apartments Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name The Sauchie and The Steamie City Centre Luxury Apartments, I had no clue what a “steamie” was (turns out it’s old Glasgow slang for a communal washhouse, which is actually pretty charming once you know). But walking up to this place on Bath Street, you immediately get why they went with the quirky name – there’s something authentically Glasgow about these converted apartments that feels both historic and completely modern.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without the tourist trap feeling. You’re right in the heart of Glasgow’s business district, but Bath Street has this great mix of locals heading to work and visitors figuring out the city. I mean, you can walk to George Square in about five minutes, and the shopping on Buchanan Street is literally around the corner. What I really loved though – and this might sound weird – is that you can hear the city humming around you, but it’s not that overwhelming noise you get in some city center hotels. The apartments face away from the main traffic flow, so you actually sleep well.

The apartments themselves feel like someone’s stylish friend let you crash at their place, if that friend happened to have really good taste and unlimited budget for kitchen appliances. Everything’s proper luxury – we’re talking rainfall showers, those coffee machines that make you feel like a barista, and honestly the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered in Scotland. The whole setup works perfectly if you’re staying more than a night or two, because you’ve got a proper fridge and can actually cook something instead of eating out every meal (though honestly, with Glasgow’s food scene right outside your door, you might not want to). Check-in was surprisingly smooth too – they’ve got this system where you get all the codes sent to your phone, so no awkward waiting around in a lobby. Just walk right in and feel like you live there. The 8.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s the kind of place that gets the big things absolutely right, even if the TV remote took me ten minutes to figure out.

Reviews of The Sauchie and The Steamie City Centre Luxury Apartments

  • Great hosts, great location, well equipped but hot and noisy – Edward from United Kingdom – August 16, 2025 (7/10)

Very clean, excellent location, great hosts – extremely responsive

What could be improved: The apartment was very hot – too hot to sleep most nights and because it is above a live music bar that opens until 3am, if you open the windows ( which you need to because of the heat) it’s very very noisy – although they do provide ear plugs!!

  • Cannot recommend this apart enough. – Alyson from United States – July 12, 2025 (10/10)

Amazing place to find at the last minute as other accommodations fell through. Could not have lucked out better. Highly recommend families staying here on there visit to Glasgow. One of the best places on our entire United Kingdom vacation.

What could be improved: Way too much incense. We had to lock them away in the hall cabinet

  • We have stayed in many places throughout the UK and this has been our favorite thus far. Super clean, wonderfully stocke – Michael from United States – June 20, 2025 (10/10)

Cleanliness. Well stocked. Comfortable. Friendly hosts. Location.

What could be improved: Absolutely nothing.

  • Easy access from Buchanan Bus Station, nice apartment. – Mita from Japan – May 31, 2025 (10/10)

    Perfectly equipped.
    Clean.

What could be improved: Because of the location (city center)and presumably the season (the end of May) outside was very noisy till 02-03am. Of course it is not because of the apartment. The apartment itself is really quiet.

  • Very Good – Natascha from Switzerland – August 1, 2025 (8/10)

Sehr schöner gepflegter Wohnraum, Küche etc. Alles top!

What could be improved: Eines der Zimmer war warm und schwierigzu lüften aufgrund Boiler, der auch gut summte in der Nacht.
Sonst aber absolut nichts zu beanspruchen.

  • موقع جيد ونظيف ومعامله واستغلال سيئ – Ahmed from United Arab Emirates – September 3, 2025 (2/10)

    الموقع

What could be improved: يأخذون مبلغ كبير بحجة الضمان ثم لا يتم ارجاعه بتلفيق الحجج للزبون والتبلي عليه

  • Exceptional – Marcello from United Arab Emirates – August 22, 2025 (10/10)

  • The apartment was perfect, great location, spotless, well equipped and spacious. – David from United Kingdom – May 28, 2025 (10/10)
