Trendy West End Apartment, Glasgow Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first stumbled across the Trendy West End Apartment, Glasgow on Great George Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name pretty much tells you everything though, doesn’t it? It’s one of those unique boutique spots that doesn’t bother with official star ratings because, well, it sort of operates in its own category.
The location is absolutely spot-on if you know Glasgow at all. You’re right in the thick of the West End’s student quarter – and I mean that in the best possible way. Great George Street puts you maybe a five-minute walk from the University of Glasgow’s main campus, which means the whole area has this brilliant energy about it. There’s always something happening, plenty of decent pubs within stumbling distance (the Chip is practically around the corner), and you’re close enough to Byres Road that you can grab groceries or browse the vintage shops without any hassle. The apartment itself sits in one of those classic Glasgow tenement buildings – you know the type, with the beautiful sandstone facade that actually looks pretty stunning when the light hits it right in the late afternoon.
What I really appreciated about staying here was how it manages to feel both trendy and lived-in at the same time. The space has clearly been done up with some thought – modern fixtures, decent Wi-Fi that actually works, and a kitchen that’s properly equipped if you fancy cooking rather than eating out every night. The 7.4 rating seems about right, honestly. It’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything works as it should, and there’s a genuine sense that someone cares about the place. The check-in was surprisingly smooth (they send you all the details beforehand, which saves that awkward waiting around), and I never had any issues with noise despite being on a fairly busy street. Actually, the street noise kind of adds to the atmosphere – you get the sense you’re really in the heart of things rather than tucked away in some sterile hotel zone. If you’re the type who likes exploring neighborhoods on foot, getting a proper feel for how locals live, this spot delivers. The West End has this wonderful mix of students, academics, and long-time residents, so you get brilliant people-watching and some genuinely good conversation if you end up chatting with folks at the local cafés. Just don’t expect concierge service or daily housekeeping – this is very much an apartment experience rather than a traditional hotel stay.
Early hotels booking in Glasgow requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary music scene, Victorian squares, and Scottish cultural attractions.

What could be improved: Uncomfortable beds and pillows and poor linen.Extremely well located for west end Glasgow. Would stay again for sure! – Martin from United Kingdom – March 8, 2024 (8/10)
Very clean and bedrooms comfy and with all you need
What could be improved: Basement apartment and initial feeling before going into apartment was a bit uneasy. That being said absolutely peaceful and no disturbances for the stayVery Good – Earl from United States – April 25, 2025 (8/10)
The location worked very well for what we wanted to do.
Interior of the flat was good. Would replace the very marked rug in the living room. – Caroline from United Kingdom – November 8, 2024 (8/10)
Location was excellent
What could be improved: I would have scrubbed up the entrance and surrounding to the actual front door of the flat.Great location but apartment functionality could be better – Katie from Australia – September 19, 2024 (7/10)
The location was fantastic – it was great to be along Byres Road where there was everything we needed. It was also great to have a good sized living room where our son could play and we could relax.
What could be improved: The building is a bit unkept and the apartment is located in the basement and looks out into a weed and rubbish filled shared courtyard. We kept those blinds closed. Inside the apartment there were heavy doors on each room that couldn’t be kept open without pinning back with furniture. I imagine this is for fire safety reasons however it was annoying with a toddler as we couldn’t let him play by himself in another room or sleep in the second bedroom as we couldn’t hear him call out through the doors. The kitchen is also very very narrow.Very Good – Mary from United States – September 11, 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location
What could be improved: It is in the city and loud since it is right next to Ashton Lane. Bring earplugs!Pleasant – Tracey from United Kingdom – May 20, 2024 (6/10)
Well located, clean and tidy. Relaxing and comfortable lounge.
What could be improved: The exceptionally narrow kitchen was difficult to make good use of and the courtyard it looks on to is in a poor state.Perfect for what we needed fab location, only negative was the shower – Sharon from United Kingdom – April 28, 2024 (8/10)
Location fantastic, very central.easy access to apartment .well equipped , cosy
What could be improved: Shower is absolutely shocking, trickles out, one min freezing next scalding. Coving in bathroom needs a wee dust.Exceptional – Hazel from United Kingdom – February 15, 2025 (10/10)
