Union Court Mezzanine – B9 – Building has no lift and stairs to all apartments Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first heard about Union Court Mezzanine – B9, the name itself pretty much tells you everything you need to know about what you’re getting into. This isn’t some fancy hotel with a marble lobby and uniformed doormen. It’s a proper apartment-style stay right in the thick of Glasgow‘s city center, and honestly? That’s exactly why I loved it.

The building sits on Union Street, which – if you know Glasgow at all – puts you smack in the middle of everything that matters. I mean, you’re literally walking distance from George Square, the Merchant City’s buzzing nightlife, and all those gorgeous Victorian buildings that make Glasgow’s architecture so addictive to photograph. But here’s the thing they make crystal clear upfront: there’s no lift. None. So if you’re hauling a massive suitcase or have mobility issues, you might want to think twice. I was on the mezzanine level (hence the name), which wasn’t too brutal, but I watched some poor soul dragging luggage up to what looked like the third floor and… well, let’s just say they earned their sleep that night.

What actually surprised me was how spacious and well-kitted the apartment felt once I got inside. You know those cramped city center places where you can barely swing a cat? This wasn’t that. The kitchen had everything I needed for making proper coffee in the morning – crucial when you’re still adjusting to Scottish time – and the whole space felt more like staying in a friend’s flat than some sterile hotel room. The windows face Union Street, so there’s a bit of city noise, but honestly, that’s Glasgow for you. If you want dead silence, you probably shouldn’t be staying in the city center anyway. Plus, the double glazing does a decent job of keeping the worst of it out.

The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s one of those places that just works. The building itself has that solid Glasgow tenement feel, all sandstone and character, but inside everything’s been done up properly without losing the original charm. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward (none of that “we’ll hold your room until 6 PM” nonsense), and the whole experience felt refreshingly no-fuss. You’re getting excellent value for money in a location that would cost you twice as much at a traditional hotel, and frankly, the apartment setup means you can actually live a bit while you’re visiting rather than just existing between a bed and a tiny bathroom. Just remember what I said about those stairs – pack light, or at least pack smart. Trust me on this one.

What could be improved: لا يوجد مصعد كما هوا موضح جيدا، لا يناسب كبار السن.
