Whitefield Guesthouse Overview
You know what struck me first about Whitefield Guesthouse? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not – and honestly, that’s refreshing. Tucked away on Paisley Road West, it sits in this surprisingly quiet pocket of Glasgow‘s South Side that most tourists completely miss. I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from the city center, but the street has this almost residential feel that makes you forget you’re in Scotland’s largest city.
The guesthouse itself has that classic Victorian bones thing going on – you can tell it’s got history in those high ceilings and original features, though they’ve clearly put some work into keeping things updated without going overboard. My room was honestly bigger than I expected (travel websites always make places look cramped), and while it won’t win any design awards, everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. The heating was actually decent too – important detail if you’re visiting Glasgow outside of those three weeks of summer they get. What I really appreciated was how quiet it was at night; Paisley Road West gets busy during the day with local traffic, but once evening hits, it settles down nicely.
Here’s the thing about staying in this part of town – you’re perfectly positioned without paying city center prices. There’s a proper bus route right outside that’ll get you to Buchanan Street or the West End in about fifteen minutes, and if you’re the walking type, it’s maybe a twenty-five minute stroll to the Merchant City area. Plus, and this is local knowledge talking, you’re close to some genuinely good spots that aren’t on every tourist’s radar. There’s this little Pakistani place about five minutes walk away that does incredible curries, and if you head toward Ibrox (yeah, the football stadium’s nearby), there are some proper Scottish pubs that haven’t been sanitized for visitors yet. The staff at Whitefield actually seemed to know the area well – not just the obvious recommendations, but they pointed me toward a decent coffee shop I never would’ve found otherwise. Look, it’s not luxury by any stretch, and the 6.9 rating probably reflects that some people expect more bells and whistles from their accommodation. But if you want a clean, comfortable base that won’t eat your entire travel budget, and you don’t need someone folding your towels into swan shapes, this place does exactly what it says on the tin.
Glasgow’s apartments offer charming accommodations with period features, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally rich Scottish city.

Reviews of Whitefield Guesthouse
Clean, quiet and comfortable stay near Cessnock tube. – 1falesia from United Kingdom – September 4, 2025 (8/10)
Very clean and quieter than I thought it'd be as it's situated on a main road. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot, clean and easy to operate. It's a short walk to Cessnock tube.
What could be improved: Ideally, I was looking for something nearer the city centre, but for the price/quality ratio, the Whitefield is hard to beat.Basic comfortable guesthouse. EXCELLENT value. – Pjmasp from United Kingdom – July 22, 2025 (8/10)
Great location well served by buses nearby, both to City and QEUH.
Accommodation is basic and comfortable but meets all descriptions accurately. Room is a double bed, two seat sofa, small bathroom shower and coffee team making.
Blackout blinds effective.
Entry is keyless number pad at front door; key to room provided in room so person-free checkin was very straightforward.
What could be improved: Basic accommodation only. No TV. No microwave.
But again this was clearly described.Very Good – Laura from Italy – August 21, 2025 (8/10)
Tap water, very easy shower, very close to the bus stop, comfortably beds
Good – Simon from United Kingdom – August 18, 2025 (7/10)
Location to bus service, quite at night, beds comfortable, basic but all you need for a city visit.
What could be improved: Top of list either carpet had an odour or airfreshiner smelt of pee, needs clean laminate throughout, shower drain was blocking and tray filling could cause a issue.Very Good – Andrew from United Kingdom – August 9, 2025 (8/10)
Cheap and cheerful great communication

What could be improved: Better amenities and quicker customer service.Pleasant – Greta from Italy – July 22, 2025 (6/10)
Spacious room, comfy bed, nice sofa
What could be improved: Room wasn't the cleanest, hosts were difficult to reach, breakfast was just instant coffee or teaPleasant and good for money – Kelly from United Kingdom – August 18, 2025 (6/10)
Location and price
What could be improved: My room was right my the main door so there was a lot of slamming, the internal doors seem to squeak a lot tooCreaking front door – Valentyna from Ukraine – September 6, 2025 (7/10)
Self check in, clean, comfortable bed, nice sheets
What could be improved: My room was right next to the front door. The door creaked incredibly. Why can't they take care of it? The other guests were constantly running back and forth and making noise and talking in the hallway.
We agreed about early check-in but I didn't get the information as we suggestedWell-rested sleep guaranteed 😉 – Marta from Ireland – September 8, 2025 (9/10)
It was easy to find and enter inside. Room was clean and polished, towels provided. Smells well and huge window. Pretty new bathroom with sparkles✨. Cozy corridor for guests with gorgeous full human size golden mirror!! Drinking water provided. Overall tidy and comfy conditions for good sleep.
What could be improved: Small room and no place to sit on a chairs with a table. It was hard to manage right water temperature in the shower. Not enough milk to make a coffee, sugar was wet… Would not be the best option for more than a 2 days of stay tho, mostly because of size (for couple and more).
