Aigas Overview

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Aigas in Glasgow‘s northwest, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting myself into. The address says “3 Aigas Cottages” and that’s exactly what it is, tucked away in what feels more like a residential pocket than your typical hotel strip. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly why this place works so well.

This isn’t your standard star-rated chain hotel situation – Aigas operates more like a boutique guesthouse that someone who actually cares about hospitality decided to run properly. The 9.1 rating it’s pulling makes total sense once you’re there because it’s doing all the small things right that bigger places tend to mess up. I mean, the check-in process alone felt more like being welcomed into someone’s well-appointed home than the usual desk transaction you get elsewhere. The rooms have this lived-in quality that’s somehow both cozy and polished – proper attention to detail without feeling stuffy about it. And honestly, the quiet factor here is remarkable. Being set back from the main drags in Glasgow means you’re not dealing with traffic noise or the usual city hotel soundtrack of slamming doors and elevator dings at all hours.

What really struck me was how the place manages to feel both intimate and professional at the same time. The staff actually seem to know what’s going on around the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this brilliant little café about a ten-minute walk away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me the real story about parking (which, let’s face it, is always a concern in Glasgow). The whole setup reminded me why boutique spots like this often outperform the big chains when it comes to the experience that actually matters. You’re not getting a massive lobby or room service around the clock, but what you are getting is a place that feels intentional rather than corporate, run by people who seem to genuinely want you to have a good time in their city. If you’re the type who’d rather have character and genuine hospitality over standardized amenities, Aigas delivers on that promise without making a big show of it.

Reviews of Aigas

  • Exceptional – Daniel from United Kingdom – April 27, 2025 (10/10)

I stayed here for a couple of nights due to attending a rugby match at Scotstoun Stadium which is closely located from the property. There is also overall good access to all public transport and local shops or restaurants. Whilst near to the railway, this was surprisingly not heard and the neighborhood was generally very quiet which allowed for a good night's rest. The stay is also very reasonably priced and you are definitely getting what you've paid for.

Susan and David are both lovely hosts. They are fabulous – very friendly and relatable and contribute towards the overall pleasantness of the stay. Whilst the property is their house, there is only one room for guests and so you are only sharing the property with them and are thus a welcomed guest. I'd gladly stay again if in Glasgow and highly recommend a stay here.

What could be improved: I enjoyed all aspects of my stay

  • Great Stay, Fantastic Hosts, Would Highly Recommend. – Sean from United Kingdom – March 27, 2025 (10/10)

When we arrived we were welcome very nicely by the host David. The parking was right outside the door and parked in a safe location.
We were shown to our room, which was a good size, clean and a comfortable bed.
Nothing we asked was to much trouble, using the fridge to hold our drinks and a few snacks.
The location is brilliant for what we needed, after spending the day at Loch Lomond, a concert in the city center at night and shopping the following day. All are very easy to reach.
We were then lucky enough to have a few games of pool in the morning, which I very much enjoyed.
I will be hopefully returning in the future.
Thanks again for a brilliant stay.

  • The Hosts were extremely warm, welcoming and kind and definately went over and above expectations! – Liz from United Kingdom – November 24, 2024 (10/10)

Breakfast not included but the hosts made us cups of tea and asked us to help ourselves to bread for toast and anything else they had in their kitchen! They were very informative of the local area. It made us feel very "at home" and relaxed.
House was beautiful and very clean. It was very warm and cosy. The bedroom was great. Bed was really comfy. Crisps, snacks and bottles of water were provided in room too. Situated very close to some lovely eateries and a only short distance from Botanic Gardens, Art Galleries etc. Everything was "spot on" and my partner and I had a fantastic stay. Hosts were very welcoming to our dog too! Would highly recommend Aigas! 🥰
