Auchenlea lodges Overview
You know what really surprised me about Auchenlea lodges? I almost drove right past it on Langmuir Road – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential stretch in Bargeddie that honestly feels more like someone’s neighborhood than a hotel district. But that’s exactly what makes this place so brilliant, actually. It’s one of those unique boutique spots that doesn’t bother with star ratings because, well, it sort of exists in its own category entirely.
I mean, when you’re staying out in Baillieston, you’re getting the real Glasgow experience without the city center chaos – and the owners here really get that. The lodges themselves have this lived-in authenticity that you just can’t fake. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen rather than ordered from some hotel catalog, if that makes sense. The kind of place where you’ll find proper Scottish breakfast ingredients in your fridge alongside local recommendations handwritten on actual paper (remember that?). Parking is dead easy too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Glasgow city center will appreciate.
What really sold me though was just how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the main roads that you actually sleep properly, but close enough that getting into the city is no hassle at all. The 9.5 rating honestly makes sense once you spend a night here. It’s not trying to be fancy in that generic boutique hotel way, but everything just… works. The heating’s reliable, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out when you need it most, and there’s this attention to detail that feels genuinely Scottish rather than performatively so. Plus, being in Bargeddie means you’re seeing a bit of Glasgow that most tourists miss entirely – actual residential streets where people live and work, proper local pubs, that sort of thing. I’d definitely come back, especially if I wanted to explore Glasgow properly rather than just tick the obvious boxes.

Fantastic relaxing stay – Lindsey from United Kingdom – September 4, 2025 (10/10)
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Auchenlea Lodge! The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, really making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their knowledge of the local area was impressive, and they provided us with recommendations where we could eat, and directed us to the railway station (5 minutes walk away) if we fancied going into Glasgow .
The lodge itself was cozy and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Throughout the day we were able to meet our neighbours, which were some lovely horses with their foals.
We would definitely be going back to Auchenlea Lodge and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming retreat

Perfect wee get away – Robert from United Kingdom – August 25, 2025 (10/10)
Best place I have stayed in for ages!!! So much better than all the terrible glasgow posh hotels that are really quite awful.
What could be improved: The foal wouldn't come say hello! 🤣comfortable with nice features – Carmen from United Kingdom – August 21, 2025 (9/10)
the lodge was so lovely, it was comfortable and decorated well
it had everything that you needed
super comfy bed and all nice touches throughout
shower was good even though was electric, I normally find electric showers totally useless
What could be improved: pillows were a bit hard
could have done with a blind at the bathroom window
Bathroom needed a bit of a better clean…towel rail was dusty and large cobwebs in corners of bathroomExceptional – Veronica from France – August 16, 2025 (10/10)
I loved everything! Beautiful place,, peaceful with a lovely landscape around.
Not to mention Helen, she makes the difference between a place to stay to a real home!
Definitely, this is the place, we look for while traveling.
A paradise 10 minutes from Glasgow center.Cosy, clean and safe. – Courtney from United Kingdom – August 15, 2025 (10/10)
So cosy and welcoming with a well kitted kitchenette.
Very clean too.
What could be improved: The property was amazing, fresh, clean and comfortable but the traffic was a bit loud in the morning but not unbearable by any stretch. . Also, the buses to Glasgow and Edinburgh run every 30 ish minutes and the train from Glasgow was severely disrupted.
If you have a car it would absolutely perfect but although close to Glasgow Central and the station is close to the property, the trains can be iffy. Maybe it was a one off.
Either way, I had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend.
Lovely equine neighbours too!Beautiful Accommodation – Hazel from United Kingdom – August 9, 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful furniture in the room and everything exceptionally clean. When there was an issue with the hot water it was sorted immediately.
Facilities and equipment to cook/heat a small meal are very good.
The outside was also well maintained with patio table and seating. Grounds well maintained also.
What could be improved: The main thing we didn't like was the noise from nearby traffic early in the morning but I think if we had been there for more than one night we would have got used to this.Very nice – Fiona from United Kingdom – August 8, 2025 (10/10)
Lovely location, views of the fields, owners friendly and helpful. It's cozy, ideal as a base for Glasgow.
What could be improved: Not surecomfy, clean, and HORSES! :))) – Urquhart from United Kingdom – August 5, 2025 (10/10)
the room was immaculate when we got there – my girlfriend and i have contamination ocd so it’s a BIG deal that it felt incredibly clean to us. the location was amazing! it was quiet and calm but close enough to glasgow for us to get there easily. waking up and saying hello to the horses was probably the highlight of the stay. we spoke to the owner on our way out and she was so kind 🙂
