Blythswood Apartments – Experience Luxury Living Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Blythswood Apartments – Experience Luxury Living on West George Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name makes it sound like serviced apartments, but this place is actually way more sophisticated than that suggests. It’s tucked right in the heart of Glasgow‘s business district, which might sound boring, but trust me, it’s perfectly positioned for everything you’d want to do in the city.

What struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to create this boutique hotel feel without trying too hard, you know? The interiors have that modern Scottish elegance thing down – think rich fabrics and contemporary art without being stuffy about it. The apartments themselves are genuinely spacious, which is refreshing after staying in so many cramped city hotels. I mean, you get proper living areas with kitchenettes that are actually functional, not just for show. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you settle in – it’s those little touches like really good linens and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re in a shoebox.

Location-wise, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Buchanan Street for shopping, and honestly, the restaurant scene around there has gotten so much better in recent years. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night despite being so central – West George Street doesn’t get the weekend chaos that some of the main drags do. Parking can be a bit of a pain (it’s Glasgow city center, after all), but there’s a decent car park nearby if you’re driving. The staff seem to know their stuff about the area too, which always helps when you’re trying to figure out where to grab dinner or whether it’s worth walking to the Merchant City or just grabbing a taxi. One thing to note – they don’t have a traditional hotel restaurant setup, but with that kitchen in your room and all the options within a block or two, it actually works out better. Plus, there’s something nice about having that apartment-style independence while still getting proper hotel service when you need it.

The host Suzanne contacted me with all the information needed to get into the apartment prior to arrival. She then contacted me to make sure all was to our liking. Beautiful spotless apartment. A home from home with everything you need. Would absolutely recommend this apartment.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect.

value for money ie for the price you pay you get exactly what you paid for. Host was responsive

What could be improved: Nothing all great

  • Hidden gem in Glasgow – Andrew from United Kingdom – August 12, 2025 (10/10)

Beautifully appointed apartment with a large modern kitchen and open plan living area. Tastefully decorated building. Quite but in the centre of things. Would book again without hesitation.

What could be improved: The mattress on the bed was really soft (which I'm not used to) and we couldn't open the windows fully (security locked). This meant it was quite hot in the apartment for one of the days.

  • Not luxury, tired needed updates. – Dena from United States – August 6, 2025 (5/10)

Nice period building, location close to stores, restaurants, transportation.

What could be improved: New owners of the units, needed kitchen equipment, had to use shower in other units because no cold water, and then valve needed to be ordered. Windows only opened at top about an inch so no airflow and was hot! Manager Suzanne was helpful she found fan and bought some kitchen equipment.
