Duplex Apartment Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Duplex Apartment, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It sounds more like a rental listing than a hotel, but that’s actually part of its charm. This 3-star spot sits right on Bath Street in the heart of Glasgow, and you know what? The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying city center hotel prices.

The building itself has that classic Glasgow sandstone look – you’ll recognize it immediately if you’ve spent any time wandering around the city center. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being on such a busy street. Bath Street can get pretty hectic during the day (especially near the shopping areas), but the rooms are set back enough that you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise. The duplex setup is genuinely clever – it feels more like staying in someone’s flat than a typical hotel room, which honestly makes the whole experience more comfortable. You’ve got proper space to spread out, and the kitchen area actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Tesco just down the street.

Here’s what locals know that most tourists don’t – you’re literally a five-minute walk from some of Glasgow’s best pubs and restaurants, but more importantly, you’re perfectly positioned for both the Merchant City area and the West End. I mean, you can walk to the Gallery of Modern Art in about eight minutes, and getting to the university area is just a quick subway ride from Buchanan Street station. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury by any stretch, and the decor is pretty basic (think IKEA meets budget hotel), but everything works well and the staff actually seem to care about making your stay decent. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare around there – honestly, I’d recommend using public transport or just walking everywhere since most of what you’ll want to see is within reasonable distance anyway. One thing that caught me off guard was how well-maintained everything felt despite the modest price point. The shower pressure was actually great, and the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve stayed in Glasgow. If you’re the type who needs fancy amenities or room service, this probably isn’t your spot, but if you want a clean, comfortable base for exploring the city that won’t completely destroy your budget, it’s actually a solid choice.

Hotels in Glasgow offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this cultural gem, with easy access to historic districts, charming squares, and renowned whisky bars.

Reviews of Duplex Apartment

  • The best sleep in the most comfortable bed, in a convenient location and excellent city views. – Green from United Kingdom – November 10, 2024 (8/10)

The most comfortable bed, powerful shower and good hair dryer.

What could be improved: More glasses, tea and coffee provided.

  • Good – William from United States – July 2, 2025 (7/10)

Nice location. Nice view. The apartment is mostly functional. A significant refurbishment is sorely needed, but it was clean. Communication with the hist was good through the app.

What could be improved: We were surprised that there was no toilet paper in either toilet. We travel extensively and never have stayed in a place where toilet paper wasn't provided. Luckily, there was a box of kleenex tissues in the living room. I found a small roll of paper towels under the kitchen sink.
I doubt I will stay in a 7 rated apartment again.

  • Good – Monika from Slovakia – July 1, 2025 (7/10)

A few steps from the center and Buchanan bus station, opposite the Kings Theater. There are 2 toilets and a small balcony with a nice view.

What could be improved: The apartment could be cleaner. The kitchen is well equipped, but the dishes and oven need washing.
The stairs to the first floor are steeper.
the bed in the living room is not very comfortable, but for 2 nights it was fine

  • Spacious, needs some work! – Jill from United Kingdom – June 9, 2025 (8/10)

Great location, spacious, balcony and view, gpod value

What could be improved: Toaster broken, not enough mugs and glasses, no instructions, couldnt get living room tv to work, needs general maintenance and good clean. Upstairs plug sparked when unplugging the radiator, no toilet roll.

  • Very good. Would definitely recommend. – Chris from United Kingdom – March 16, 2025 (8/10)

Facilities were what we needed. Internet, Netflix etc.

What could be improved: Bed was a tad too soft for my liking, but that’s just me being pedantic.

  • Very Good – Michał from Poland – January 18, 2025 (8/10)

The apartment is spacy, the bed is comfortable, and its location is awesome! I’ve rented it for two weeks straight and it suited me, beside some weaknesses I’ll point out next. Even though the appart. Is located in the downtown, it’s quiet there at night, which was important to me. That’s 10th floor. And one more thing want to add: A perfect and problemless owner. Always in reach and always ready to help and assist with your needs you may have. Before I showed up there, on the spot, the Owner has already answered all my questions. I’m more than satisfied with the mutual contact we had. Super!

What could be improved: Leaking kitchen tap, loose window upstairs, or no paper towel in the kitchenette, these are weaknesses I can point out, but, form my experience, these’re what I’ve experienced in places I used to rent in Britain (which I’ve travelled wide and far). Probably, my wife and kids would kvetch about these, but since I’ve been to Glasgow on business and I rented the apartment for myself only, it wasn’t much a difficulty to me. Anyway, next time when in Glasgow on business, I’ll consider renting that place, again.

  • For 2 nights with an attentive host the price was good. – Rose from United States – October 28, 2024 (7/10)

Beth is a very sweet and attentive host. She has always responded promptly when I messaged her.
The location was great. Close to many restaurants. Loved the balcony. The view is amazing!

What could be improved: The apartment needs some general maintenance and a deep cleaning. I'm not sure how many guests stay there that are from another country, like myself, but a manual about how to use things could be helpful and maybe with sights to see in the area.

  • Great communication and lovely flat, but tellies didn't work – Triinu from United Kingdom – August 18, 2025 (8/10)

    – Really appreciated how friendly and quick the owner was to communicate and respond to messages

    – Great value for such a lovely place. My mum was over the moon after she saw the pretty sunset 🙂 We also didn't expect it to have two floors and two loos (p.s. only the one upstairs had a shower in there too).

    – Wifi worked

    – Kitchen had lots of pots-pans, cutleries, crockeries, … ; salt, oil, .. . There was also a fridge-freezer, which was great.

    – Convenient location and well connected. Greggs is just around the corner and there is a Hop-on/off bus stop super close as well (which you can use only after picking up the initial ticket from the central area; the red sightseeing bus), not to mention the Charing Cross train station.

    – Working lift

    – Can't hear the neighbours

What could be improved: – Bathroom upstairs was a bit sketchy since there was only a single small led-light. The room remained pretty dark with just one source of light over the shower cubicle. Literally had to use my phone torch to check if I left the loo clean afterwards.

    – Two tellies didn't exactly work. I thankfully had my own laptop and HDMI cable with me (not my first rollercoaster), but had to use the sound from laptop rather than via cable. Really tricky accessing the back of the tellie too (ask a friend to hold on to the screen otherwise it can fall down!), since it's hanging very close to the wall without any flexibility to change it's direction.

    – Traffic can be bit noisy if windows are open

    – "Evening lighting" was way too bright (I'm prone to migraines and also need a bit more calming lighting to wind down), so I ended up climbing on a chair and removing 3 lightbulbs from the ceiling lamp. Extractor light and the tiny led's weren't enough of their own. Led lights were super weak.

    – Sofa could be more comfortable. It was rather hard.

  • Comfortable stay in spacious central location – Linda from United Kingdom – June 22, 2025 (10/10)

    Spacious well equipped

What could be improved: All good

  • Exceptional – Hamilton from United Kingdom – April 20, 2025 (10/10)

Great place to stay was right next to kings theatre where had booked a show perfect great communication and lovely place to stay
