What struck me most was how quiet it stays despite being surrounded by all the West End buzz. The street it’s on doesn’t get the heavy traffic that some of the main drags do, so you’re not dealing with buses rumbling past at 6 AM. Actually, mornings here are pretty peaceful – just the occasional dog walker and maybe some students heading to lectures at the nearby university.

Speaking of location, this is where the place really shines. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Byres Road, which honestly feels like the beating heart of student and local life in Glasgow. I spent way too much time wandering between the vintage shops and grabbing coffee at Singl-end (their flat white is genuinely excellent, by the way). The Botanic Gardens are close enough that you can pop over for a proper walk when the weather cooperates – and even when it doesn’t, the Kibble Palace greenhouse is this gorgeous Victorian refuge that locals seem to forget about sometimes. Getting around is dead easy too; the subway station at Hillhead is right there, and parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in other parts of the city. I mean, you might circle the block once or twice during busy periods, but it’s nothing compared to trying to find a spot in Merchant City on a Saturday night. The 7-star rating feels about right – it’s comfortable, well-maintained, and does everything it promises without trying to be something it’s not. No fancy spa or rooftop bar, but honestly, with Ashton Lane just around the corner full of proper pubs and that slightly chaotic energy that makes Glasgow nights memorable, you don’t really need hotel amenities anyway.
