This beautifully renovated apartment sits on Barrland Court in the South Side of Glasgow, and I mean, the location is pretty brilliant if you want to experience the city like locals actually do rather than being stuck in some sterile hotel district.

The flat itself is genuinely gorgeous – whoever furnished this place has serious taste. Everything feels fresh and thoughtfully chosen, from the kitchen fixtures to the bedroom setups. I was impressed by how spacious it actually is; two proper bedrooms that don’t feel cramped, and the living area has this lovely natural light that makes morning coffee feel like a proper ritual. The neighborhood around Barrland Court is one of those quietly residential areas where you’ll hear actual Glasgow life happening – kids playing, neighbors chatting, the occasional delivery van rumbling past. It’s real, you know? Plus you’re walking distance to some fantastic local pubs and that brilliant stretch of independent shops along Victoria Road that most tourists never discover.

What I really appreciated was how well-equipped everything was – the kitchen actually has proper cooking gear if you want to grab ingredients from the nearby shops, and the wifi was solid (crucial for those of us who can’t completely disconnect). The check-in process was smooth, though I’d recommend confirming arrival times in advance since it’s not like a traditional hotel front desk situation. Honestly, with an 8.3 rating, this place delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a boutique experience without the inflated prices you’d pay in the city center. The South Side has this authentic Glasgow character that’s harder to find elsewhere, and staying here puts you right in the middle of it while still being an easy journey into town when you want the tourist stuff.

  I think some of the previous reviews of this property are a little harsh. It’s a really lovely, spacious and comfortable home. It’s much bigger in person with lots of natural light and is well decorated. It feels very private and secure, and is very quiet apart from the trains passing by. The beds are super comfortable, as is the couch and there is everything you need from washing powder to shower gels and shampoos.

  The flat was bright and spacious. Beds and sofa very comfortable. A pint of milk was left in the fridge for us – but no tea or coffee! The sheets and towels were clean. There are many takeaways nearby and a large supermarket.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen was very badly equipped. Nothing available to allow for cooking. No saucepans, no utensils. Not even a corkscrew. There was no basics such as tea or coffee.
  The flat could have been much cleaner. The floor was covered in dust, fluff and other people's hair. Obviously not vacuumed or mopped. The location was right beside a railway with trains running until 11.00pm

  The apartment is nicely decorated, very good quality furniture. Beds were very comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was convenient. It was easy to park outside of the building and it is not too far from the Glasgow University, where we were attending a sporting event. Good for a weekend in the city.
  
  What could be improved: Despite alerting early enough about our arrival time, we had to wait for about 20 minutes in the street before the person arrived with the keys. The host also seem to be responsive when we reported a couple of issues (Netflix not working, second shower not operating), but the issues were not resolved during our stay. The cooking equipment in the kitchen is very basic (i.e. a burned pan, no chopping board). I was not aware that the flat is just above the city railway and all the windows look to it. The trains run about every 10 min from early in the morning to past midnight, it was too noisy for us, unfortunately. No hand towels in the bathrooms, just 1 bath towel per guest.
