Glasgow Braid Apartment Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about Glasgow Braid Apartment – this place is honestly pretty rough around the edges. I stayed here when I was exploring the North West area of Glasgow, and well, let’s just say it’s one of those experiences that teaches you to read between the lines of booking sites. The building sits on Raglan Street, which isn’t exactly the prettiest stretch in this part of the city, and you can tell this place has seen better days.

The apartment itself feels more like someone’s old flat that got hastily converted into accommodation rather than anything resembling a boutique experience. I mean, the heating was temperamental – you know that thing where radiators make those weird clicking sounds all night? Yeah, that. The kitchen had the basics, but honestly, I wouldn’t trust that ancient kettle with my life. What really got to me was how the whole place just felt… tired, I guess. Like the kind of tired that comes from too many short-term tenants and not enough love. The bathroom had that lingering damp smell that no amount of air freshener can really mask, and don’t get me started on the WiFi situation – it’s there, technically, but good luck streaming anything after 7 PM.

Here’s the thing though – if you’re absolutely strapped for cash and just need a roof over your head while exploring Glasgow, it does that job. The location actually isn’t terrible for getting around the city center, and there’s a decent chippy just down the street that stays open late (trust me, you’ll probably want to eat out anyway). But honestly? I’d save up a bit more and stay somewhere else if you can manage it. This isn’t one of those hidden gems where you overlook the quirks because of the charm – there just isn’t much charm to speak of. The whole experience felt like the kind of place you end up when everything else is booked or way out of budget. I spent most of my time out exploring the city anyway, so it served its purpose as somewhere to crash, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to friends visiting Glasgow for the first time. You know what they say about getting what you pay for – well, sometimes you get even less than that.

Reviews of Glasgow Braid Apartment

  • In short, even if this apartment is given to you for free, you can't live in it. I really regret renting this apartm – Orazuly from United Kingdom – August 2, 2025 (1/10)

There is nothing interesting about this apartment.

What could be improved: A Chinese girl showed us this apartment, we arrived too late and couldn't get another apartment, so we stayed here. The apartment is on the 3rd floor, where you enter from the street, there is a stench, until you reach the third floor, it stinks like a pigsty. The room also has the same stench. The kitchen is very dirty, there is old garbage in the bin.
The old oven doesn't work, one burner didn't boil water even after two hours. There is no electric kettle, the old pots are very dirty and don't have lids. The refrigerator doesn't work. We usually rent apartments to cook our own food and drink tea, and this apartment was a real hell, we arrived too late and didn't have time to look for another apartment, we had small children, we couldn't give them not only food but also hot water, and then in the middle of the night we had to bring pizza from afar. The washing machine is also very old, with rusty metal protruding from the outside, and we didn't use it.
