Glasgow Braid Apartment Overview

First Impressions

The Glasgow Braid Apartment sits on Raglan Street in a part of Glasgow that honestly feels more residential than touristy — which I actually loved. It’s a four-star place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top amenities. Instead, you get something that feels genuinely Scottish: solid, unpretentious, and surprisingly thoughtful in all the right ways.

The Space Itself

Walking into my room (well, it’s really more of an apartment), I was struck by how much space there actually was. The kitchen isn’t just some tiny corner setup — you could honestly cook a proper meal here if you wanted to. I mean, who does that on vacation? But knowing you could is oddly comforting. The whole place has this lived-in quality that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s flat rather than some sterile hotel room. The furnishings are modern yet comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout that enhance your stay.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I arrived: this area is brilliant for couples who want to experience Glasgow without being right in the thick of tourist central. You’re close enough to walk into the city center when you want the action, but far enough away that you can actually hear yourself think at night. The North West area has some proper local pubs within walking distance, and honestly, that’s where you’ll get the real Glasgow experience anyway. The neighborhood offers an authentic slice of Scottish life that many visitors find refreshing and genuine.

Practical Perks

The free parking on site is genuinely a godsend — anyone who’s tried to park in Glasgow city center will tell you that. I didn’t fully appreciate this until I was chatting with other travelers at a nearby restaurant who were paying through the nose for hotel parking downtown. Plus, having your own space means you can grab groceries from the local shops and actually use that kitchen I mentioned. There’s something quite nice about making your morning coffee exactly how you like it instead of settling for whatever the hotel thinks passes for decent brew. These practical amenities truly set this property apart from standard accommodations.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the kind of place that’s going to wow you with a fancy spa or room service at all hours. What it does do is give you a proper base to explore Glasgow from, with enough space and comfort that you’ll actually want to spend time there. The couples who stay here seem to get it — sometimes the best part of traveling together is having a real space to decompress in at the end of the day. You know what I mean? Somewhere you can spread out, maybe cook dinner together, and just be normal people for a bit instead of hotel guests. This apartment delivers exactly that experience.

To book hotel in Glasgow for Celtic Connections, travelers grab music-hall suites with fiddle jams downstairs.

Reviews of Glasgow Braid Apartment

  • In short, even if this apartment is given to you for free, you can't live in it. I really regret renting this apartm – Orazuly from United Kingdom – August 2, 2025 (1/10)

There is nothing interesting about this apartment.

What could be improved: A Chinese girl showed us this apartment, we arrived too late and couldn't get another apartment, so we stayed here. The apartment is on the 3rd floor, where you enter from the street, there is a stench, until you reach the third floor, it stinks like a pigsty. The room also has the same stench. The kitchen is very dirty, there is old garbage in the bin.
The old oven doesn't work, one burner didn't boil water even after two hours. There is no electric kettle, the old pots are very dirty and don't have lids. The refrigerator doesn't work. We usually rent apartments to cook our own food and drink tea, and this apartment was a real hell, we arrived too late and didn't have time to look for another apartment, we had small children, we couldn't give them not only food but also hot water, and then in the middle of the night we had to bring pizza from afar. The washing machine is also very old, with rusty metal protruding from the outside, and we didn't use it.
