Look, I’ll be completely honest with you – Glasgow room is one of those places that’s going to be a real love-it-or-hate-it situation. When I first walked up to Braid Square in the North West area, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting myself into. The whole setup feels more like someone’s quirky experiment than a traditional hotel, which honestly might be exactly what some travelers are looking for these days.

The thing about this place is that it genuinely doesn’t fit into any conventional category – they call themselves a boutique hotel but there’s no star rating, and after staying there, I can see why. It’s sort of like if someone decided to create accommodations based entirely on their own vision rather than what the hospitality industry thinks you should want. The room itself (and yes, it really does seem like they focus on just the one room concept) has this very personal, almost residential feel that’s either charming or unsettling depending on your travel style. I mean, you’re definitely not getting the polished, predictable experience you’d find at a chain hotel, but that’s clearly the point.

What struck me most was how the whole experience feels very much rooted in Glasgow‘s character – there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the approach that mirrors the city itself. The location puts you right in the thick of things without being touristy, and you’ll find yourself walking past locals going about their daily business rather than crowds of visitors. Parking can be a bit tricky around Braid Square (street parking mostly, so plan accordingly), and the check-in process was… well, let’s call it informal. You know what though? If you’re the type of person who appreciates something genuinely different and you’re not expecting hotel-standard amenities or service, there’s something oddly appealing about the whole thing. Just don’t go in expecting luxury or even standard comfort levels – this is very much about the experience rather than the accommodation quality. I’d probably recommend it to friends who are looking for stories to tell rather than a comfortable night’s sleep, if that makes sense.
