I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Newly refurbished 2 bed ! on Kirkwood Street, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name doesn’t exactly scream luxury, but you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you upfront. This little gem sits in the South Side of Glasgow, and after spending a few nights here, I can tell you it’s got something special going on.
The whole place has this boutique feel without the pretentious attitude you usually get with that label. They’ve clearly put some serious thought into the refurbishment – everything feels fresh and modern, but not in that sterile way where you’re afraid to touch anything. The two-bedroom setup is actually perfect if you’re traveling with friends or family, or honestly, even if you’re solo and just want some extra space to spread out. I mean, how often do you get a proper living area in most hotel rooms? The kitchen area is surprisingly well-equipped too – I actually ended up cooking breakfast a couple mornings instead of heading out, which saved me both time and money.
What really won me over though was the neighborhood itself. Kirkwood Street is one of those quiet residential streets where you get a real sense of how Glaswegians actually live, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The local buses run regularly (much more reliable than I expected, actually), and you can walk to some fantastic pubs and restaurants that most tourists never discover. There’s this little café about three minutes away that does the best morning rolls I’ve had in Scotland – the kind of place where the owner remembers your order after two visits. The area gets pretty peaceful in the evenings, which was perfect for me since I’m one of those people who needs actual quiet to sleep properly. No drunk crowds stumbling past at 2 AM like you get in the city center. Parking was surprisingly straightforward too – street parking that doesn’t cost a fortune, unlike those hotels near George Square where you’re basically taking out a second mortgage just to leave your car overnight. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me because this place delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling, without all the fancy nonsense that just drives up the price.

Accommodation in an old building with original features of the building. But inside very modern, clean and spacious. Spacious bedrooms and bathroom and kitchen. Good location close to the center and the airport. Parking on the street in front of the house.

Location is great, close to lots of amenities, easy transport access.
What could be improved: I would have prefered a white towel, instead of a grey towel. So didn't use towel, as I could tell how clean or dirty they were. I would also prefer a white duvet cover, instead of grey duvet cover. Everything else was great. Comfortable, well acquainted apartment in Glasgow, within walking distance to Ibrox Stadium and subway which brings you to the city centre within 20 minutes. Appliances are new and the tv screen is a very nice size. Easy finding free parking right on the street.
What could be improved: Although the apartment was cleaned before we arrived, the cleaning service could have done a better job, especially in the corners. Free street parking was a bonus. Subway a short walk away takes you right into city centre in under 15 minutes
